Requiem for a Dream

Or requiem for an american dream? The movie is about a lonely old woman & her son who wants to make it big. She handles it by watching T.V. day-in-day-out. Her son handles it by going high on drugs. The movie is about how these addictions lead them towards insanity & self-destruction. A same scenario in India would mean that the son would take care of his mother(obviously).. which means she wont be lonely anymore & spend most of the time cooking & washing for him. Her son who wants to make it big would after a few unsuccesful attempts at trying to reach his dreams, get a decent job & a homely girl to marry. How uncool!
I think what hit me hard about the movie was the possibilty that we Indians might be moving towards the same end.

Mind over matter…

I am taking the easier way out… It’s easier to explore the mind than the devious heart.. Hence this effort.. the posts now on would discuss stuff that makes sense 😉 i mean to the poor souls who actually read thorugh this blog!

Read this today morning in the papers: When a young woman from Mumbai was asked who Modi is(right after the Gujrat Riots) she said ‘of course the Xerox Machine!’This makes one thing clear…General Knowledge has become very very rare! Not general anymore!

2006!

The champagne bottled popped open on the new years’ eve.. & all that i could think of was, if the food served later would be enough & if the guests are comfortable.. thats when i realised.. I need to get a life!

Sometimes life just seems to take over you in a manner when ‘mundane’ rules the consious & ‘surprises’ seem like endangered species. That is when you need to REALLY slow down.

And thus the new year started with loads of contemplation & thinking (!!!)

Also since nobody else seems to be reading the blog anyways it seems safe enough to make a list(again!) of resolutions – here we go –

Stop Hogging
Stop Hogging
Stop Hogging

Recently I read smwhere that keep things simple & focused & you are more likely to suceed. Hopefully one resolution per year will take me there in a few years time… 🙂 Happy new year to those who actually managed to read through this ramble. The rest can go take a walk! Hmpph..
